Simply put this device has functioned flawlessly for the past 24 months. Prior to this I had worked with LinkSys products. This device is head and shoulders above those older devices. I would recommend this device to anyone who needs a DSL link that they want to use and not fix.
With the exception of a few momentary "glitches" early on, this unit has performed without incident and I havent looked at it or touched it in the 3 weeks Ive had it. Great product, and with a little help from my DSL provider (36 min on the phone with AT&T rep, not bad) was a snap to get rolling. Beautiful, just beautiful.Tip: If you purchase this unit (or any other, for that matter) do yourself a favor and call your service provider to guide you through the setup and registration process. I had read an earlier review in which a buyer advised calling the provider for set up straight away, I took that advice. He was right on. 30-45 min on the phone is a lot less time than youll likely spend trying to do this yourself, stumbling through the menus, tabs, codes and "initializing" processes. Unless youre a tech savvy buyer, which I am not, do yourself a favor.
The distance between the router and laptop is about 60 feet, and the wireless setting is set for 400 mw (which is the maximum). The wireless worked fine the first few days, but lately internet sessions would drop without warning. The ethernet seems to work OK, but the wireless is unreliable. 2Wire doesn't have support wrt to setup software for Windows 7 OS same for AT&T setup -- you must http to the default gateway address for setup.
AT&T support was required to configure wireless with WPA. AT&T DSL service only supports and sells this wireless router (wired only isn't offered) for new installations. Other wired and wireless routers I had never had this problem. + postage & handling). Even worst, one internet session supported, a second usually isn't -- you get complaint about URL does not exist.
When I have the time I'll try a different manufacturer for wired with wireless router. Windows 8 browser is very slow over wireless. Downloads are problematic -- a 760 MB file may take minutes to over an hour or die with DSL service one below Elite. The router is a piece of junk, and I paid over $[.]. Connection to URLs is slow -- about a minute.
Sometimes, restarting solves this, but it's a real pain. ($[.]. Mozilla 5.0 is faster and more reliable.
The old wireless router which came with our dsl service lasted for about a year. This wirless router out performs and is faster for uploading and downloading. We are completely satisfied and would recomend it's purchase for anyone.
the seller. The sellers should be asked to include a set-up CD. I liked the modem and it works very well. I almost sent it back to the seller because of that we both thought something was wrong with it. If they don't have one it's not hard to download the software and on to a CD from the isp that was used. It would make things easier for the buyer and. All that was needed was the software to make it run. Thanks Mark
